saturday, rest day
our lives have been hectic lately, and I am close to burnout. so, today, I invited a friend over and we sewed - for 6 hours. it felt great - I didn't want to stop! but alas, back to the grindstone! in the meantime, here is what I accomplished today:

This is a project I started almost 4 years ago by cutting all the strips. Today, I cut those all up and put it together - this is just the top, but it's done! Now, pinning front, batting, and back, quilting, and binding is next. Then, to decide what to do with it :)

Chicken, potatoes, and red velvet
We had company last night, and I wanted to make the potato spears with cilantro-lime mayo that mom and dad make - so good!
Then, I noticed it was linked to a recipe for tortilla chicken legs that looked fun!
Well, I don't like putting crumbs over skin, so I decided to do pounded out chicken breasts.
Then, the reviews said it wasn't very flavorful, so I decided to go ahead and make lemon chicken and use the tortilla crumb breading.
Also to boost the flavor, I heaped the cumin and chili powder, but also added oregano (since it was already in the potatoes), a little Columbia seasoning (essentially seasoning salt, but from the Columbia restaurant mom and dad went to with us) (for the onion and garlic savoriness), cayenne for spice, and ground mustard, for tang. Just pinches of each. Well, it was SOOO good! So good, that I thought I would share. The cilantro lime mayo was great on the chicken too!
We had it with green beans and multigrain dinner bread, but it would have been awesome with jalapeno cornbread, too.
Finally, we topped it off with red velvet cake a la Bakerella, which was very good! I'd never really had red velvet before, so it was a new experience that I wanted to try. And let me tell you, it looked exactly like the picture - I couldn't believe it! And it wasn't dry like most scratch cakes I've tried - nope, moist and small, even crumb, just like box cakes!
Much love to all of you!
Keep praying for us on the job search - we're getting some response, but still fairly early in the processes, and hoping one of the WA/OR opportunities will work out!

new pictures.
I'm hoping that if I share pictures of my kids here then Briana will share pictures of her kiddo here. Jen & Neil even shared pictures!!!!!!
I can't really explain her expression here - what a goof. I think she was trying not to laugh at me, but not sure! lol
this is part of her new team (there are 7 girls this year). I LOVE the jerseys this time! Not that the blue was bad before, but wow, you can see these girls from 3 fields away! and look - this brand fits better so you can actually see part of Hailee's legs! lol (ya'll do know she's the blond on the left, don't you???)
Braden's first dog bite. We are dog-sitting for our friends (we do this at least 3 times/year and he wanted a hug. Well, she was sleeping and he scared her. This is how she reacted. He cried for a second then was over it. It was a welt for quite a while but it's already almost gone (this happened yesterday morning). And he still gives her hugs, but not when she's sleeping!

25 weeks and counting...
Hello Everyone!!
I am now 25 weeks along and I am definitely getting ready for this baby boy to come!! We are so excited! All I want to do is hold him! I think the hardest part of the pregnancy recently has been sleeping. I go to bed tired and sit there tossing and turning. This has been going on for the past week and a half but luckily last night I was able to get a fairly decent amount of sleep. Be praying that I am able to continue with this trend of sleep. I have tried pillows, a warm bath, and reading before bed but nothing has seemed to work.......What have all of you other moms done to be able to sleep through the night?
The baby is now the size of an eggplant! I can feel him kicking around and doing somersaults all the time! It is so strange to feel him adjust when I roll onto my other side in bed! lol I believe that I felt him hiccuping the other day but I am not quite sure.
And now here are my week 25 bump pictures. I wore the same outfit so that you could compare from the last time. I definitely feel bigger and I think I look a little bigger as well. What do you think? I am still waiting for my belly button to pop! I have a very deep innie so I don't think it will be for a while. When did your belly buttons pop?
