Great Baby Buys!

We've been researching furniture and combing the internet for the nursery.

Last week, we bought an awesome, old, substantial, and super comfortable rocking chair. We wanted the old-fashioned kind: wood, with actual rockers (vs. the gliders or overstuffed versions). Here is what we found:
And it is anatomically perfect for me!

Then, tonight, we bought a dresser. We had been looking at Babies R Us, Target, and JCPenney, trying to find good quality (something that would last) for a reasonable price. Then, Parker started looking on CraigsList, and through a series of random events, found an awesome, quality piece of furniture that is exactly the style we wanted, and right in the middle of the range of prices we had seen at the stores listed above. The crazy thing is, this dresser is from a high-end children's furniture store! We paid less than 1/4 of what it sells for, and it was only used for 6 months by the original owner, and it's in great (almost perfect) shape.

Here it is:
The front part of the changer you see extended hangs out about a foot over the edge of the dresser, but also lowers down below the regular part (similar to mom's old kitchenaid shelf). The whole changer piece comes off as well, so that it can just be a regular dresser once we are done with diapers.

Here is a side view:

And here is a much better front view:
Oh, and Dad, don't worry. The drawers are dovetailed, and the entire thing is solid wood!

We also ordered white picture frames for the walls that look like multi-paned windows. We're going to fill them with baby pictures of family and friends, and photos of lambs and red barns.

So in the next ten weeks, we will be moving out 3 large bookshelves full of books, a hide-a-bed, and the gameshelf-of-fun, then painting the walls light blue and maybe, possibly putting up white chair rail.

Thus far, we're well on our way to outfitting the nursery VERY nicely and VERY inexpensively! Yay!

Next on our list of purchases is a bookcase, so we can raise a little reader. I'll keep you posted :)

Love you all,
Briana
