Table to Ottoman

Several of the DIY blogs I follow talk about finding discarded furniture in out of the way places such as alleys and turning them into something beautiful and useful. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a coffee table in the middle of a rural path on my walk this morning. When I first spied it I immediately thought it would make a great ottoman. I was too far from home to carry the table so I hurried home and talked your dad into driving me back to collect the table. It is now safely stored in our garage.

Your dad asked me where I was going to put it when it is completed. Truthfully, I don’t know, but I have the loft or family room or 4 kids that may want it. Besides the point of this project is scoring a free piece of furniture and giving it a new purpose in life such as the example below.

The next step is to decide what to cover it with. I picked out 3 different fabrics:

A trendy French burlap

A contemporary green geometric

and a more traditional print.

Let me know which fabric you vote for!

I am starting the transformation tomorrow and will keep you posted of the progress.

  3. Hmmm... depends on where it goes! I like all 3, but you listed them in the order of my preference! Or, you could repurpose a tablecloth or something ;)

Or, also depending on where it goes, you might consider an indoor/outdoor fabric, one that would recover easily from spills...

    Hi Dara!!!
